Derek VanDyke founded Green Benefits with the belief that people are willing to make the lifestyle changes necessary to preserve the quality of our community and planet. Prior to founding Green Benefits, Derek worked as an educator and outside consultant for educational programs.
Derek's experience includes teaching students K-12, college students and adult learners. Derek has consulted for the Seattle Public School District, King County International Airports Opportunity Skyway program, the Museum of Flight, and IERN’s Natural Disaster Youth Summit in Japan. Derek's Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics is from Whitman College and his Masters Degree in Education is from Pacific Lutheran University.
Growing up in Washington State, Derek has strong passion for the outdoors and the quality of life provided by a clean and healthy environment. During his free time, Derek likes to sail, hike, fish, golf and spend time with his wife and two children. Derek volunteers at his children’s school, the Tacoma Farmers Market and is active in the South Puget Sound sustainability community.

John Hamlin created Green Benefits to blend his 14 + years in technology and business development experience with his passion for green and background as a professional Geologist. Prior to founding Green Benefits John had an entrepreneurial career in 4 high tech. start-ups including Director of Business Development for XDrive.com (now part of AOL) as well as corporate experience as a technical buyer for Microsoft. John has been active in raising venture funds for early stage start-ups as well as developing national sales and channel sales teams. John holds two Bachelors of Arts degrees from Whitman College, one in Geology and one in Economics.
In his limited spare time, John enjoys skiing, hiking, sea kayaking, golfing, photography, and spending time traveling with his wife. John volunteers at the Bellevue Farmers Market and is active in the Seattle/King County sustainability community.
